i've spent a lot of time being annoyed at irrational behavior.
just recently, a new thought came to me. (i think it was while i was sitting at the kitchen table, watching out the window as people walked by two stories below.)
it's precisely our irrational behaviors that make us human. does any other animal behave irrationally?
well, actually...i know this cat...
but really, i think that choosing illogically, having weird quirks of behavior, liking things for no particular reason...this is our prerogative as humans, isn't it?
free will?
this is not a complete thought, just a new one, for me.

Yes, humans are complicated, weird creatures who never do what they are supposed to do. They are eternally annoying, but sometimes I am happy when I think about how different we all are. I am thankful that there are people who like to make sandwiches for a living, or bring my mail, or fix my drywall or better yet, my toilet, or who frosts birthday cakes day after day at the bakery I like. I am thankful for all these humans, although the ones on the train annoy me. :)
P.S. i thought of you the other day. I saw a great project. It was a drawer that someone put on the wall and used for a shelf. They put dividers in it, little shelves with dividers so it would hold some books, knick nacks, etc. I thought if you ever found a nice drawer you could make an interesting wall hanging/display shelf from it.
. . . i read this and thought: it only appears irrational if you don't understand what's going on. . . :)
