Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?
--Mary Oliver, in "The Summer Day"
isn't the truth that we'll spend most of our lives chewing food, washing the dishes, doing laundry, answering the phone, taking out the garbage, or buying toilet paper?
i think i'm arriving at a peace with this.
